Ó Crualaoí are proud to have partnered with Ballincollig Secondary School, Coláiste Choilm, to bring the students “healthy food to get them through the day!”
This healthy eating initiative was introduced in the school by principal Michelle Sliney to encourage positive eating habits in teenagers, habits to carry through to their adult lives.

‘Every day Ó Crualaoí’s provide healthy and tasty meals and snacks to our students at a very affordable price. Our ‘Whole School Healthy Eating Policy’ promotes healthy eating with a view to improving concentration, learning and physical energy. We are delighted to work in partnership with Ó Crualaoí’s in the development and promotion of this policy’- Michelle Sliney, Principal, Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig.

What’s on offer for students?

Students can now avail of delicious, healthy hot pots, soup, freshly prepared rolls and more in the Ó Crualaoí Food Hub, which caters for even the fussiest of taste buds! With hot nutritious meals for just €3 (our famous ‘hot pots’) and fresh homemade soup for just €1.50, there’s no excuse not to fill up and fuel up on healthy food!

Why Healthy Food?

Ó Crualaoí’s healthy range of foods provides students with some much-needed brain power to get them through their activity filled school days. If they love to play sport, their Foods for Fitness range will help them to perform better both on and off the pitch.

  • Happy tummy

Why Ó Crualaoí?

Ó Crualaoí are delighted to be involved in such a valuable project for the community, encouraging healthy eating habits for the growing generation.

“We talk to parents every day in our shops. They really struggle to get their teenagers to eat healthy food. It’s an uphill battle for them. There are so many unhealthy choices out there at every turn – everything from crisps and sweets to junk food and fizzy drinks. In recent years, Colaiste Choilm implemented healthy changes by removing sweets, fizzy drinks and vending machines from the school, in a bid to address the rising obesity epidemic. We were delighted to build on this and progress to revamping the school’s Lunch Time offerings. The hard work has paid off and it’s a positive change for everyone involved. The principal is happy, parents are happy and most importantly – the students love it.”

“Ó’ Crualaoí are proud to be a part of the fitness movement too, with food in all its varieties featuring strongly on social media stories by fitness experts in Cork. We hope these fitness influencers are showing our teenagers that healthy, nourishing foods and exercise are vital to everyday health and are paving a better way forward towards health and nutrition.” – Francis Twohig, Chief Executive, Ó Crualaoí Butchers.
